Products That Make Home Maintenance Easy

Maintaining a home takes a lot of time and there’s always something to do. Luckily, there are home products available that can make the chore of keeping your home clean and in working order less arduous. Check out this list of gear that can shorten and simplify your to-do list.

Robotic vacuums and mops

It can be difficult keeping floors clean, especially since they are constantly walked on. Not to mention the extra dirt that pets and kids can bring in. But with a combination robotic vacuum and mop, your floors can be cleaned with the press of a button. These handy machines effortlessly switch between vacuuming and mopping, so you don’t have to. They can vacuum and mop your vinyl, tile, and wood floors, and some models have app control to start and stop a cleaning session from your phone. Keep in mind that a robotic vacuum/mop can keep your home relatively tidy, but you will have to get out your regular vacuum and mop now and then to deep clean or tackle bigger messes.

Robotic lawn mower

Your floors aren’t the only part of your home that can be maintained by a  robot—your lawn can be too. You can get a basic robotic lawnmower, or you can pay more for extra features, such as rain and anti-theft sensors. When shopping for a robotic lawn mower, think about the size of your lawn and whether there are steep grades or obstructions for the mower to navigate. Some models are better equipped to handle these factors than others, and some mowers’ rechargeable battery packs can hold a charge longer than others can.

Automatic window cleaner

If your home has high windows or many windows, an automatic window cleaner might be what you need. These robots can wash the outside and the inside of your windows with the touch of a button on a remote or via an app. Many of these high-tech helpers come with edge-detection technology, safety ropes, and anti-falling sensors to prevent your cleaner from taking a dangerous tumble.

Telescoping dusters/scrubbers

Windows aren’t the only high surfaces in a home that can be tough to keep tidy. Anything that is difficult to reach, such as the tops of kitchen cabinets, walls, and ceiling fans, can be a cleaning hassle. Telescoping cleaning kits that come with attachable dusters and squeegees, make it easier to dust away those cobwebs and tackle chores like scrubbing algae, mold, and mildew off the exterior walls of your home or shed.

Automatic litter box

Anyone with a cat knows that scooping a litter box can be messy and smelly. Automatic kitty litter boxes recognize when waste has been left and rake it into a separate, enclosed, and odor-controlled waste receptacle—you don’t need to sift through the litter yourself. You just need to empty the waste container regularly into a trash can and put in a new litter box liner about every month or so.

Leaf blower

Leaf blowers can be used for more than blowing leaves and are handy tools to have around the home. Sure, you can use them to remove leaves from your lawn. But a leaf blower can also help you clear dirt and debris off your patio, clear rain gutters, dry your car after it’s been washed, and “sweep” the floor of your garage. Choose the type of leaf blower that works best for you—there are gas, corded, and cordless models.

Power scrubbers

Scouring soap scum off the surfaces of your shower or cleaning the grout in your tile floor can be hard work. A power scrubber can do this for you, preventing the back, arm, and knee pain that can come from vigorously cleaning areas like these by hand. These battery-operated scrubbers are often water resistant and outfitted with comfortable grips to make many cleaning tasks quicker and easier.

Solar pool skimmers

Who wants to hand-skim a swimming pool when you can be swimming in it or relaxing by it instead? Solar pool skimmers harness the energy of the sun and float on the water to filter out leaves and other debris so you can enjoy your pool. These skimmers can store the solar energy they soak in, so they can still work at night or when it’s cloudy outside. After these skimmers have done their job, you merely empty out their debris receptacle.
