An overgrown yard, patchy grass, or tired-looking plants can make your home seem like it hasn’t been cared for. Landscaping is one of the first things people notice, and it sets the expectation for how the rest of the home is maintained.

What to do instead: Keep your lawn healthy and trimmed, and prune shrubs to maintain a neat shape. From there, add seasonal flowers or low-maintenance perennials for charm and vibrancy. A fresh layer of mulch can also give these spaces a more polished finish. If you’re not a gardener, consider making easy upgrades like placing fresh planters by the front door.

Ignoring the front door
