Tik Tok Cleaning Hacks You Have to Try

You might have seen silly dance clips from the social media platform TikTok, but it’s also bursting with valuable home-cleaning tips and tricks you have to try. Here’s a roundup of some of the best pieces of advice that can help you keep every area of your home spick-and-span.

Sticker removal

Window and mirror stickers are fun, but removing them is not as pleasant. Pulling the corner of a window sticker and peeling only to rip and repeat a few times can be frustrating. However, there is a better way to remove stickers in one smooth motion.

Heat the sticker or decal with a hairdryer for a minute to melt the glue, then use a knife or other sharp pointed tool to carefully lift and peel off the whole sticker.

Laundry scent

Dryer sheets smell great out of the package, but they don’t always transfer that scent onto your clothes well. If you want the freshest smelling clothes, try this sponge hack.

Cut two to three sponges in half, and place the sponge pieces in a plastic container with two cups of fabric softener and two cups of room temperature water. Make sure the sponge pieces are fully submerged before closing the lid. Once you’re ready to put your clothes in the dryer, squeeze the sponge of the excess liquid and place it in the dryer with your clothes. Your dryer and your clothes will smell fresher than ever before!

Stained food containers

Are you tired of having greasy and stained food containers? The solution is simpler than you might think.

Add two squirts of dish soap to the container, and fill it halfway with warm water. Shred a paper towel and put the paper towel bits into the container. Close the lid, and shake the container vigorously for one minute. Rinse the container out with warm water—it should look good as new.

Oven and microwave cleaner

It can be easy to forget that the inside of your oven and microwave need to be cleaned occasionally. Try this homemade cleaner for an unbeatable shine.

In a bowl, mix baking soda, dish soap, and water into a paste. Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub and line the inside of your oven or microwave with the paste, and leave it to soak overnight. Rub off the paste with a dish towel soaked in a bit of vinegar.

Deep carpet clean

If you have a household with pets that shed or deep carpets that trap dirt, you have to try this trick before you vacuum.

Use a squeegee to scrape your carpet in one direction, pulling the debris into a pile. Vacuum the pile first before the rest of the carpet. Your carpet will get a much deeper clean with the surface dirt out of the way—and it will be noticeably fluffier!

Dusting without the mess

Reaching the blades of your ceiling fan to clean them is hard enough, but on top of that, dust can fall and fly everywhere. Try this genius method instead.

Take a dirty pillowcase (so you don’t waste a clean one), and wrap it around the fan’s blade. Wrap your hands tightly at the pillowcase opening and move down the blade to collect all the dust in one motion without making a mess.

Add these TikTok tricks into your cleaning routine to save you time, money, and frustration.
